WNBA Finals score and live updates: Minnesota Lynx come back to beat New York Liberty in OT

The WNBA Finals are underway with Game 1 as the New York Liberty host the Minnesota Lynx in Brooklyn. Follow live updates from our team of reporters below.

The Lynx tied a record for the largest WNBA Finals comeback, charging back from an 18-point deficit to beat the New York Liberty 95-93 in overtime.

Breanna Stewart had a chance to win as the final seconds in overtime ticked away, but she was smothered by Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier.

The pivotal play came in the final seconds of regulation as Courtney Williams completed a four-point play for a one-point Minnesota lead. Stewart made the first but missed the second free throw after being fouled at the end of regulation to take the game into overtime 84-84.

In overtime, Jonquel Jones tied the game again 93-93 with a steal and layup, but Collier hit a fadeaway jumper for the lead with eight seconds left for the decisive shot. Stewart missed another crucial shot, and the Lynx celebrated a Game 1 victory that came just 48 hours after they wrapped up their semifinals series.

Jones led the way for New York with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Williams (23 points) was one of three Lynx who scored at least 20, along with Collier (21) and Kayla McBride (22)
