Is Malik Nabers playing this week? Latest news, injury updates on Giants WR’s status for Week 6 vs. Bengals | Sporting News United Kingdom

Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers missed Week 5’s game against the Seahawks as he remained in concussion protocol, the first time in his NFL career that he missed a game due to injury. Nabers suffered the injury against the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football in Week 4, making it now two weeks since the injury.

Entering this week, Nabers did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, a bad sign for his availability on Sunday.

Is Malik Nabers playing this week?

On Friday, Giants head coach Brian Daboll announced that Nabers would miss his second straight game with a concussion.

Nabers will increase his activity during Friday’s practice but is still not to the point where he can play in a game.

“He had a pretty good concussion,” Daboll said.

In four games this season, Nabers has 35 receptions for a total of 386 yards and three touchdowns.

With Nabers out, Robinson and Slayton will once again have to produce in the passing game.

Last week in Seattle, those two were the only wide receives to record a catch, as Slayton had eight receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown while Robinson had six catches for 36 yards and a touchdown.

Only three other players caught a pass in the game: tight end Theo Johnson and running backs Tyrone Tracy and Eric Gray.  

Hyatt, a 2023 third-round pick, still has not recorded a catch on the season, but he did play 48 snaps last week in Nabers’ place. Hodgins was elevated from the practice squad last week and played 25 snaps, which was fourth-most among Giants receivers.

Ford-Wheaton and Smith-Marsette are primarily special teams players who did not play an offensive snap last week.
