New York sports take center stage with epic upcoming slate
Start spreading the news, as New York professional sports will be in full force over the next few days.
Even outside of the ALCS- and NLCS-bound New York Yankees and Mets, plus the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, New York Giants and New York Jets all playing on Sunday or Monday in Week 6, the Empire State’s NBA and NHL teams will be on the docket as well.
On ice, the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders and New York Rangers all play an early regular-season contest on Saturday. The latter two also play on Monday night in their third game of the campaign.
On the hardwood, while the tilts will have significantly less meaning, both New York’s NBA teams have upcoming exhibition games. The Knicks will play the Minnesota Timberwolves at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday on ESPN, while the Brooklyn Nets host the Washington Wizards at 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday.
In the WNBA, the New York Liberty also host the Minnesota Lynx in Game 2 of the Finals at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday. They will then travel west for Game 3 on Wednesday. The Liberty are seeking their first championship in franchise history.
With 10 men’s professional teams in New York across the four major sports, it’s not uncommon for most of them to be in action around the same time at some point during the year.
With the Liberty falling short of the WNBA Finals from 2003-2022 and the Mets and Yankees reaching the LCS for the first time since their Subway Series 2000 campaign, it’s certainly a wild time in the City That Never Sleeps.
