Tennis 2025 calendar: next grand slam and big tournaments

In this tennis events calendar we start by taking a look at the dates of the four grand slams in 2025 – plus some of the big tournaments taking place around the world during the year. The next grand slam is the Australian Open from 6-26 January 2025 at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia.

The 2025 tennis grand slam season will feature the four iconic major tournaments that define the sport: the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. These tournaments will bring together the world’s top players, offering fierce competition across hard, clay, and grass surfaces. 

The Australian Open kicks off the year from 6-26 January 2025 at Melbourne Park. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and extreme summer heat, it’s played on fast hard courts and often sets the tone for the rest of the season. The tournament continues to innovate, enhancing fan experiences with state-of-the-art stadiums and high-tech solutions like electronic line calls. 

From 19 May to 8 June 2025, the French Open takes place at Roland Garros in Paris, showcasing the unique challenges of clay courts. The slower surface requires great stamina and strategic play, favouring players with patience and strong baseline games. Rafael Nadal’s historic reign at Roland Garros is often a storyline, but following his retirement the 2025 edition may see new or rising stars attempting to make their mark. 

Wimbledon, held from 30 June to 13 July 2025 at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club in London, is the most prestigious of the grand slams. Played on grass courts, The Championships are steeped in tradition, with its iconic all-white dress code, strawberries and cream, and royal patronage. The fast grass surface makes for thrilling serve-and-volley tennis, and the atmosphere at Centre Court is unparalleled. 

The final slam of 2025, the US Open, takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City from 25 August to 7 September 2025. Known for its loud, energetic crowds and evening sessions at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, the US Open is played on hard courts and is the most-attended grand slam. It often produces dramatic and memorable finishes as players push for year-end rankings and prestige. Together, these four tournaments form the backbone of the professional tennis season, with players vying for a place in history at each.
