New York Section 6 Playoff Scenarios

Two weeks remain in New York’s regular season so lets take a look at the playoff picture for Section 6.

 

Class AA – All Teams make the playoffs, Top Seed gets a first round bye.

Bennett is 4-0 in AA so far and still have games vs Orchard Park and Lockport. The Tigers can finish as high as 1st and as low as 3th in the AA.

Orchard Park is 4-1 in AA so far and play Bennett in their only remaining division game. The Quakers can finish as high as 1st or as low as 4th in AA.

Lancaster is 4-1 in AA and plays one more league matchup with Niagara Falls. The Legends will finish as high as 1st or as low as 4th in AA.

Niagara Falls is 2-2 in AA play and have matchups with Jamestown and Lockport remaining. The Wolverines can finish as high as 2nd and as low as 7th in AA.

Jamestown is 1-3 in AA and have matchups with Hutch Tech and Niagara Falls remaining. The Red & Green can finish as high as 4th or as low as 7th in AA.

Lockport is 0-4 in AA and have matchups with Hutch Tech and Bennett remaining. The Lions could finish as high as 4th or as low as 7th in AA.

Hutch Tech is 0-4 in AA and have matchups with Jamestown and Lockport remaining. The Engineers could finish as high as 4th or as low as 7th in AA.

 

Class A – 8 Teams make the playoff with the Top 4 teams from 2 divisions.

A 1

Clarence is 3-0 in A1 play and have two remaining league games with Williamsville North and McKinley. The Red Devils are in the control of their own destiny and can finish as high as 1st and as low as 3rd in A1. Clarence has clinched a playoff spot.

McKinley is 3-1 in league and has a week 8 battle remaining with Clarence in A1 play. The Macks have clinched a playoff birth and could finish as high as 1st or as low as 3rd.

Williamsville North is 2-1 in A1 and have league games with Clarence and Niagara Wheatfield remaining. The Spartans captured a big-league win over McKinley last week. Will North can finish as high as 1st or as low as 5th in the A1.

West Seneca West is 2-2 in A1 play and have one league game remaining vs Frontier. The Warhawks can finish as high as 3rd or as low as 4th in the A1. West Seneca West has clinched a playoff spot.

Niagara Wheatfield is 1-3 in A1 play but have one league game remaining with Williamsville North. The Falcons could slip past Will North if they beat them and North also loses to Clarence. Niagara Wheatfield will finish either 4th or 5th in A1.

Frontier is 0-4 in A1 with one game remaining vs West Seneca West. They are eliminated from the playoffs.

A 2

Sweet Home is 4-0 in A2 play and has one league game with Starpoint remaining. They have clinched a playoff spot and will finish as high as 1st or as low as 3rd in A2.

Kenmore West is 3-1 in A2 play and have one league game remaining vs North Tonawanda. The Blue Devils have clinched a playoff spot and will finish as high as 1st or as low as 3rd in the A2.

Starpoint is 3-1 in A2 play and have one league game remaining vs Sweet Home. The Spartans have clinched a playoff berth and could finish as high as 1st or as low as 3rd in A2.

Williamsville East finished their A2 play with a record of 2-3. This has allowed the Flames to clinch the 4th playoff spot in A2.

Hamburg is 1-4 in A2 and are eliminated from the playoffs. North Tonawanda is 0-4 in A2 and are eliminated from the playoffs.

 

Class B – 8 teams from 3 divisions. Top 2 in each division and the Top two 3rd place teams.

B 1

Health Sciences 3-0 in B1 with Kenmore East and Grand Island left. The Falcons can finish no worse than 3rd.

Williamsville South is 5-1 in B1 and are done with league play. Their record guarantees a playoff birth and a top 2 finish in B1.

Grand Island is 3-2 in B1 and Vikings only have one more game in league vs Health Sciences in the season’s final week. Grand Island could finish as high as 2nd or as low as 3rd.

Amherst is 2-3 in B1 and face West Seneca East in their final league tilt. The Tigers can finish as high as 4th but as low as 5th.

West Seneca East 1-4 in B1 and face Amherst in their remaining league game. The Trojans can not finish above 4th or below 5th.

Kenmore East is 0-4 in league with only Health Sciences remaining in B1. The Bulldogs are not in contention for the playoffs.

B 2

Pioneer is 4-0 in B2 with only Lake Shore remaining. They have clinched a playoff birth and the top seed in B2.

South Park is 3-1 in B2 with a final league game vs winless Cheektowaga. The Sparks will finish 2nd in the B2 and are playoff bound.

Iroquois is 3-2 in B2 and have one remaining league game with East Aurora / Holland. The Redhawks can finish as high as 3rdor as low as 4th.

East Aurora / Holland is 1-2 in B2 but have 2 games remaining vs Lake Shore and Iroquois. The Blue Devils can finish as high as 3rdor as low as 5th.

Lake Shore is 1-2 in B2 and play East Aurora / Holland and Pioneer in the final two weeks of the season. The Eagles could finish as high as 4thor as low as 5th in B2.

Cheektowaga is 0-5 in B2 and are eliminated from playoff contention.

B 3

Lackawanna is 5-0 in B3 and finish with Springville and Maryvale. The Steelers can finish as high as 1st or as low as 2ndand have clinched a playoff berth.

Maryvale is 4-1 in B3 and face Dunkirk and Lackawanna in the final two weeks of the season. The Flyers could finish as high as 1stor as low as 4th in B3.

Depew 4-2 in B3 and has one league matchup remaining with Olean. The Wildcats can finish as high as 3rd or as low as 4thin B3.

Olean is 4-2 in B3 and face Depew in their final league tilt. The Huskies can finish as high as 2nd or as low as 5th.

Springville is 3-2 in B3 and have two league games left vs Lackawanna and Lewiston Porter. The Griffins can finish as high as 4th or as low as 5th.

Dunkirk is 2-4 in B3 and have 1 league game remaining vs Maryvale. The Marauders will finish 6th in B3 and will not make the postseason.

Albion is 0-6 in B3 and have 1 game remaining in league vs Lewiston Porter. The Purple Eagles can finish no better than 7th in B3 and are eliminated from the postseason.

Lewiston Porter is 0-5 in B3 and have 2 games remaining in league vs Albion and Springville. The Lancers can finish no better than 7thin B3 and are eliminated from the postseason.

 

Class C – Top 4 teams in the North and South make the playoffs.

C North

Medina took the lead in the C North after a big win over Alden. With Tapestry remaining The Mustangs should finish the season 6-1 in class. They are the go ahead 1 seeds but could fall to 2nd in the division with a loss.

Alden loses for the first time this season at the hands of Medina and has two C North matchups remaining. Akron who is on a 3 game skid and Cleveland Hill who is in the playoff hunt remain for Alden. They can finish as High as 2nd or as low as 5th if they lost both of their remaining games.

Cleveland Hill handed Akron their 3rd straight loss and moved into a tie for 2nd in the C North, but they have two tough weeks to finish the season vs Newfane and Alden. The Golden Eagles can finish as high as 1st or as low as 4th but have clinched a playoff berth.

Akron who has now lost 3 games in a row have effectively played themselves into a spot where they need to beat Alden and have Cleveland Hill also beat them in the seasons final week to have a playoff berth. Unlikely but not eliminated.

Roy-Hart / Barker picked up their first-Class C North win this weekend beating Maritime/Tapestry. With only one division game remaining vs winless Tonawanda, The Bulls can not finish about 5th but could fall to 7th. Roy-Hart / Barker is eliminated from playoff contention.

Maritime / Tapestry is currently 7th in Class C North but will not be able to improve their position. They will finish either 6thor 7th in division without a playoff opportunity this season. Tonawanda like Roy-Hart / Barker and Maritime / Tapestry are eliminated from playoff contention and will finish 7th or 8thin the division.

C South

Salamanca continues to roll in the C South. They are 6-0 in class with only Eden/North Collins remaining. The Warriors have clinched a playoff birth and the Top seed in C South.

Chautauqua Lake / Westfield / Brocton continues to impress with a big win over rival Southwestern. They move to 5-1 in the C South with a showdown with Portville in week 8. The winner of that game will likely have a home playoff game. Lake has clinched a playoff birth and will finish 2nd – 4th in the C South.

Falconer / Cassadaga Valley / Maple Grove Portville Southwestern is the 1st team out as it stands at 2-3 in C South football but with a win in pocket over the other 2-3 team Eden / North Collins.

Eden / North Collins Is 2-3 in C South football with two tough opponents remaining in Falconer/CV/MG and Salamanca. The Raiders can finish as high as 3rd or as low as 6th in division.

Fredonia is 1-5 in C South and has only one C South game remaining vs Southwestern. The Billie’s are eliminated from the playoffs and will finish either 6th or 7th in the division.

Silver Creek is 0-6 in division and have been eliminated from the postseason. They will finish in the last spot in C South.

 

Class D – All 6 teams make the playoffs but the top two seeds get first round byes.

CSP is 3-0 in Class and has Wilson and Catt-LV remaining. They have clinched a top 4 finish and a home playoff game and one more win will clinch the 1 seed.

Randolph is 3-1 in Class and have only one class match up remaining with Gowanda / Pine Valley. Randolph has clinched a home playoff game and either 1st or 2nd seed.

Franklinville / Ellicottville is 2-2 in class and has beat both the teams behind them in the standings and with one game remaining they have clinched a home playoff game and will be either the 3 or 4 seed.

Gowanda / Pine Valley is 2-2 in class and has one league game remaining against Randolph. Either way, the Panthers have clinched a home playoff game and will be either the 3 or 4 seed in Class D.

Wilson is 1-3 in class and have only a match up with CSP remaining in league. Wilson will be the 5 seed in Class D.

Cattaraugus-Little Valley is 0-3 in class and will be the leagues 6 seed in the postseason.
