Saquon Barkley returns to MetLife Stadium for his first game against the New York Giants as an Eagle, a place he called home for six years as a member of the rival team. This is an unprecedented experience for Barkley, who has learned not to put more weight into any given game compared to the rest, as it will suffer his performance. He is not looking to have a “[screw]-you” moment, as he has learned throughout his career.Barkley spoke to reporters ahead of the divisional clash.

Saquon Barkley has ‘no hate’ for Giants

Saquon Barkley, a Philadelphia Eagles player, is set to play his first career game against the Giants at MetLife Stadium. Despite uncertainty about the game’s significance, Barkley remains optimistic about having nothing to prove to his old team. “Nah. I do know my mindset on that: I don’t have to prove anything to them,” Barkley told reporters in front of his locker.

He continued, “I’m thankful for the opportunity for this organization –(owner) Jeffrey (Lurie) to (general manager) Howie (Roseman), to everybody getting me here. So that’s the people I gotta prove it to – and my teammates – and at the end of the day, the most important thing is winning, whether I go have 300 yards or if I have 10 yards. As long as we win, I don’t really have that big of a pride or ego that if I go out there and ball, I’m looking at those guys over like, ‘Look at what you guys let go.’”
Barkley, a two-time Pro Bowl running back, is still processing the significance of the upcoming game despite his personal history with the Giants. During his six-season tenure, he played 74 games, rushed for 5,211 yards, and scored 47 touchdowns. Despite the storied rivalry between the two teams, Barkley is excited to be a part of history, despite uncertainty about the environment this time around. He said he would have never anticipated playing on the other end of the rivalry. “This game, this division, has been super fun,” Barkley said.
“It’s awesome to walk in the hallways here and see the history of it. And I want to be part of it. I would love to make a play or be part of one of those big games, especially on this side.” Barkley finds it strange to scout his former team in preparation for the game, despite the Giants’ new defensive coordinator, Shane Bowen, and new edge rusher, Brian Burns, as he still sees familiar faces on film that may challenge him in the run game.
