Knicks waive Landry Shamet

The New York Knicks have waived veteran guard Landry Shamet, the team announced Saturday.

Shamet suffered a dislocated shoulder earlier this week in a preseason contest against the Charlotte Hornets. He was signed to an Exhibit 9 training camp deal.

The Knicks will look to bring back the 27-year-old after he recovers from the injury, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania and Bobby Marks.

New York also waived forwards Chuma Okeke and T.J. Warren.

The Knicks will likely keep 12 players on their roster to begin the season. Teams are allowed to have fewer than 14 players on the roster for no longer than 28 total days during the regular season and no more than 14 consecutive days at a time, according to Marks.

New York signed Shamet in September. He holds a career averages of 8.7 points per game and is a career 38.4% shooter from three.

The Knicks kick off the NBA season on the road against the Boston Celtics on Oct. 22.
