Hudson Valley’s 1 Remaining Buy Buy Baby Store To Close (Again)

SCARSDALE, NY — Shopping at Buy Buy Baby is a rite of passage for new parents that will soon take place only virtually.

The store that many new parents over the years have relied on, buybuy BABY, just announced that they are switching to an online-only model and shuttering all of their brick-and-mortar stores, including the only one remaining in the Hudson Valley, at 1019 Central Park Ave. in Scarsdale.

The original version of buy buy BABY closed all 120 U.S. stores in July 2023, after parent company Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy. However, the new owner which had purchased the brand’s intellectual property and trademark rights, Dream on Me Industries, announced in November 2023 that it would be reopen 11 of the stores, including the Scarsdale location.

In addition to the Scarsdale store, the other nine stores that are closing this year are located in New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Delaware, and Maryland, and Virginia.

“As we reflect on the past year at buybuy BABY—a period of trials, learning, and invaluable insights—we recognize the need for a strategic reset,” the company said on Friday. “We’re excited to announce that buybuy BABY is evolving! We’re transforming into a digital-first brand, focusing all our energy on providing an exceptional online shopping experience. This decision comes after listening closely to our incredible customers, and our valued partners. Their feedback has been invaluable in shaping this new chapter.”

The company says that all physical stores will be closed by the end of 2024, and significant discounts on almost all items in stores are being offered right now.

Be sure to check up on all updated policies on the company’s FAQ page.

All purchases made in physical stores after October 18 are final. In addition, physical stores will no longer price match items.

The company says that gift cards will be accepted at stores until October 31, 2024, and only online after that on the buy buy BABY website.

Registries will still be available on the company’s website. If you have a registry completion code, you will still be able to use it in stores or online on applicable items, but in-store discounts will not combine.
