PRINCETON, N.J. – After picking up an Ivy League win on the road on Saturday, the Princeton men’s soccer team returns to New York to face the Fordham Rams on Tuesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Moglia Stadium in the Bronx.

About the Tigers

  • Princeton defeated Columbia 2-1 on the road in New York City on Saturday night with two spectacular second-half goals from Nico Nee and Gabe Duchovny, who brought the Tigers back from a 1-0 first-half deficit to capture the three points.
  • With the win, Princeton jumps into the second spot in the Ivy League standings with a 3-1 record, only behind no. 12 Penn.
  • Prior to Saturday, Princeton dropped two contests at home, falling 1-0 to Army on Tuesday and no. 20 Cornell on October 12th in two close battles.
  • The Tigers’ Ivy wins came on the road in Providence on October 5 against Brown, 2-1 and Harvard, 2-0, on September 28th.
  • Daniel Ittycheria leads the Tiger offense with five goals on the season and one assist for 11 points.
  • Will Francis is behind him with three goals, while sophomore Kevin Kelley has two goals and an assist on the season.
  • Ittycheria and Francis have proven to be a dangerous combination in the box, as the Tigers have seen three games so far in which both junior forwards scored.
  • With Nee and Duchovny’s goals on Saturday, eight Tigers have found the back of the net this season, including senior captain Harry Roberts, sophomore forward Ian Nunez and junior defender Giuliano Whitchurch.
  • Jack Jasinski leads the Tigers in assists with four on the season.
  • Senior captain Khamari Hadaway has taken the majority of matches in goal for Princeton, registering 19 saves and one shutout across seven games.
  • Sophomore Andrew Samuels has seen action in four games, recording one shutout and nine saves on the season for a 0.80 GAA.
  • The Tigers are ranked 16th nationally in corner kicks, registering an average of 6.30 per game, while also taking the 58th spot in shots on goal per game with 5.70.

About the New Tigers

  • The Tigers’ Class of 2028 was ranked the no. 13 recruiting class by TopDrawerSoccer, including Cyrus Klinenberg (No. 77), Kristian Kelley (No. 82), Roka Tsunehara (No. 113), Dash Papez (No. 116), and Nathan Salerno.
  • The Tiger newcomers are already making significant contributions to the Orange and Black’s success. Tsunehara has been a mainstay in the Tiger starting XI, while freshmen Kelley has one start to his credit after seeing action in seven games.
  • Tsunehara was named to the TopDrawerSoccer preseason All-Freshman team on August 20. The Burlingame, Calif., native was the 2022 MLS Next U16 National MVP. He was also a leading scorer for the San Jose Earthquakes U17 team as they reached the semifinals of the MLS Next cup in 2023.
  • A pair of new Tigers hail from the D.C. United academy system, as Papez and Zhang led their team to win the U16 MLS Next Cup Playoffs while making deep runs in both his U15 and U17 years.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Salerno comes to Princeton after playing with the Columbus Crew II and helping secure key victories in the MLS Next Pro playoffs.

About Coach Barlow

  • Head coach Jim Barlow is in his 28th season as the men’s soccer head coach and has accumulated 216 career wins with the Tigers, the most for any soccer coach in Princeton history, men’s or women’s. Barlow was also named the 2021 Ivy League Coach of the Year.

About Fordham

  • Fordham is 6-3-4 on the season and 3-1-2 in Atlantic 10 play after defeating George Washington at home on Saturday, 3-1. The Rams are now unbeaten in their last four Atlantic 10 matches.
  • Fordham has a win against no. 23 VCU on October 5th, taking the 1-0 victory in an otherwise challenging schedule that featured no. 17 Hofstra and no. 24 Penn.
  • Daniel D’Ippolito leads the Rams with nine goals and six assists for 24 points on the season. Lukas Hackaa is behind him with three goals and one assist for seven points.
  • Carter Abbott has played 11 games in goal for Fordham, making 38 saves and recording three shutouts for a 1.20 GAA.
  • Tuesday will mark just the fourth meeting between the Tigers and the Rams, with Princeton holding an unbeaten 2-0-1 record.
  • The last meeting was a 2-2 draw in 2023 in Princeton, with Ittycheria scoring a goal and Jasinski notching an assist in the contest.
