Some legendary former Boston Celtics were at TD Garden to see Banner 18 rise to the rafters on Tuesday.
Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, all members of the 2008 championship team, reunited to celebrate another championship for the Celtics.

“It’s ring night, man. Ain’t nothing more special than ring night to commemorate what we’re all here celebrating,” Garnett said. “And to commemorate the new year too. It’s a dope opponent tonight in the New York Knicks. It should be a nice night of basketball.”
The championship in 2024 marked the first for the Celtics since Pierce, Garnett and Allen beat the Los Angeles Lakers in 2008.
Boston had one of the most dominant Finals runs in recent memory, losing just three games on its way to a championship. The Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks in five games to claim their 18th championship as Jaylen Brown won Finals MVP.
While the night will begin with players getting their rings and the banner going into the rafters, the pursuit of another championship begins right after. The Celtics are looking to start the year strong with a revamped Knicks team highlighted by Jalen Brunson and his new co-star, Karl-Anthony Towns.
Boston is understandably a favorite to win another championship this year, but it will have to get through a tough Eastern Conference to do so.
