Liberty WNBA championship parade live updates: New York gets a ticker-tape parade after claiming its first title

For the first time, the Canyon of Heroes in New York City will play host to a parade for the New York Liberty, who captured their first WNBA championship in a five-game series win over the Minnesota Lynx. Jonquel Jones was named the series MVP, averaging 17.8 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game on 56% shooting from the floor in the Finals.

The day of celebration in New York will be a long one, getting started at 10 a.m. ET in Battery Park and proceeding down Broadway through the Canyon of Heroes. After a scheduled two-hour ride, the first-ever ticker-tape parade in New York for a women’s sports team will come to a stop at City Hall in Manhattan, where players and the WNBA championship trophy will take the stage.

The celebration will continue with a fan event at Barclays Center in Brooklyn at 7 p.m. ET.
