Indiana Pacers vs New York Knicks: Prediction, picks, injury updates and odds

The Indiana Pacers remain on the road when they visit the New York Knicks on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Pacers rallied to beat the Detroit Pistons 115-109 in their season opener. Indiana outscored Detroit 33-19 in the fourth quarter as Bennedict Mathurin scored 14 of his 19 points late. Myles Turner scored 20 and Pascal Siakam flirted with a triple-double.

The Knicks started the NBA season with a blowout loss to the Boston Celtics. New York trailed by 19 points at the end of the first quarter and didn’t challenge rest of the way. Jalen Brunson and Miles McBride scored 22 points each for the Knicks, but the Celtics tied an NBA record by making 29 3-pointers.

Pacers vs. Knicks prediction, picks

Dustin Dopirak: Knicks 110-105

The Pacers and Knicks both looked disconnected in their season openers. The Pacers won and the Knicks didn’t, but the Pacers were also playing the Pistons, who are better than last year. Still, they’re not the defending champion Boston Celtics, who put a whooping on the Knicks on the night they hung banner No. 18.

The Knicks will be motivated because of that loss and because the Pacers beat them in Madison Square Garden in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Guessing that will be enough for the Knicks to grind out a win.

ESPN’s matchup predictor gives the Knicks a 52.8% chance of winning.
