Report: Giants won’t be quick to bench Jones vs. Steelers
The New York Giants aren’t expected to keep Daniel Jones on a short leash in Monday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, sources told ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.
Drew Lock finished last Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles under center in place of Jones. Jones had just 99 passing yards and no touchdowns before being benched, though Lock was no better with three completions on eight attempts.
Head coach Brian Daboll said following the Week 7 loss to the Eagles that Jones would remain the starter and that he was looking for a spark with Lock.
Jones added later this week that his only focus was on playing well against the Steelers, per Raanan.
The 27-year-old signal-caller has struggled this season, completing 62.5% of his passes for six touchdowns against four interceptions. The Giants have also only scored 10 points over their last two games.
New York enters Monday’s prime-time matchup in last place in the NFC East with a 2-5 record.
