Hey…that looks a lot like Timothèe Chalamet!
New York City’s Washington Square Park saw a turnout of hundreds of Timothèe Chalamet clones on Sunday (October 27), and, according to Associated Press, one just happened to be the real deal! Video footage obtained by the outlet shows the Wonka star surrounded by his doppelgängers as he arrives at the costume contest looking…well…like himself!
The standout (accompanied by a few bodyguards) stopped by the hilarious contest to take photos with fans who dedicated their Sunday afternoon to looking like him.
What started off as a “silly joke” per Paige Nguyen, a Youtube producer associated with the creative that organized the event, turned into a crazy contest that had to be shut down by law enforcement.
One person was even arrested shortly after the real Chalamet made his much-welcomed appearance. Additional footage from the event (captured by attendees) depicts the doppelgängers’ plucky attempt to mimic a handful of the actor’s roles while carrying around a $50 check to be gifted to the winner of the contest.
So, how exactly did people get word of what is possibly the most chaotic Chalamet look-alike contest in the history of the world?
Event organizer Anthony Po put out flyers in Lower Manhattan in the days leading up to the contest in hopes that a decent amount of look-alikes would show up, with no idea that he would attract the attention of the man himself!
