Walmart+ InHome delivery service expands to NY. Here’s how it works

New Yorkers in the Rochester, Buffalo and Albany area will now have access to Walmart+’s InHome delivery service starting this holiday season.

Walmart+ is expanding their InHome delivery service to an additional 13 million eligible U.S. households across more than 25 cities throughout the country, including New York, the company announced Monday. The expansion is expected to create 105 jobs across the three markets: 44 in Rochester, 37 in Albany and 24 in Buffalo.

“Walmart+ InHome delivery is designed to be the ultimate bonus for Walmart+ members by delivering fresh groceries, everyday essentials, last-minute holiday needs, and more directly into their homes,” the news release says. “Walmart+ InHome members will feel like Santa came to town early.”

Here’s what to know.

What is Walmart+?

Walmart+ is a membership which gives you access to benefits “that will help you save time and money,” including delivery from your local store, member prices on fuel at select stations, and use of mobile scan & go, according to the company’s website.

There are two membership options: monthly at $12.95 per month or annually at $98 per year. However, if you sign up for a Walmart+ membership before Dec. 2, you’ll get a 50% discount on an annual membership of $49.

How to sign up for Walmart+’s InHome delivery service

Visit walmart.com/plus to learn more and sign up for a Walmart+ membership, then add the InHome service within your account settings for an additional $7 per month or $40 per year.

If you’re already a Walmart+ member, you can also add the service for an additional cost within your account settings.

How does Walmart+’s InHome delivery service work?

Once you’ve signed up for a Walmart+ membership, you can shop online at Walmart.com or on the Walmart app for eligible items and select an InHome delivery window that works best for you. A Walmart InHome associate will then bring your delivery into your garage or kitchen or leave it on your doorstep.

There’s no added fees or tips, the company says, and the Walmart InHome associate will either enter your garage or home with a one-time access code or ring your doorbell if you don’t have a smart lock or smart garage opener. Associates wear cameras on their vest to record the entire delivery, which members can access in their Walmart account for up to a week after each delivery.

You can also schedule an eligible return to be picked up from your home and brought to your local store for a refund, all for no additional cost.
