On Continues US Retail Expansion With New Chicago and NYC Flagships
On is continuing to expand its retail footprint across North America with the opening of two new stores.
According to the Swiss running shoe company it has opened the doors to its first store in Chicago and its third location in New York City.
The company said in a statement that both stores “reflect On’s approach to integrating technology and modern design with the distinct character of each city, creating locally relevant spaces in premium branded environments that showcase its full range of head-to-toe offerings across running, outdoor, training, tennis and lifestyle.”
On’s debut Chicago store opened its doors last month just in time for the city’s annual marathon. Located at 1043 N Rush St., the 4,553-sq.-ft. flagship is situated in the heart of Chicago’s vibrant Rush Street district, and offers On’s full range of performance apparel, footwear and accessories. According to On, the store design pays homage to Chicago’s rich industrial and design history through its open gray ceiling, colorful walls and wood accents, all inspired by the city’s iconic bridges.
As for On’s newest store in New York City, it boasts 4,596-sq.-ft. of retail space in the Manhattan’s Flatiron neighborhood and marks the brand’s largest flagship yet. Located at 162 Fifth Ave., the store, which opens Nov. 4, joins On’s other New York locations in SoHo and Williamsburg.
Housed in a registered 1930s landmark building, On noted that its team worked to “carefully preserved” the space’s original architectural elements—such as columns and moldings—while integrating modern, Swiss-inspired features. Other design details include expansive windows that offer visibility and storytelling opportunities while nature-inspired details inside reflect the urban environment familiar to local runners.
Both stores will host On’s popular weekly Run Club in addition to regular events, group runs and movement sessions with local partners and ambassadors, the company added.
Dan Schade, general manager of On Americas, said in a statement that these new flagship stores are a testament to On’s growth in the Americas. “We couldn’t be more excited to expand our brand presence in two iconic cities,” Schade said. “These spaces are more than just stores—they’re where the full expression of the On brand comes to life, embodying everything we stand for: premium design, high performance and sustainability, tailored to meet the needs of our customers and foster community in each market.”
With these new locations, On has more than doubled its number of U.S. stores in less than a year, following the opening of its first store in Austin, Texas last month – marking a significant milestone in the brand’s growth journey.
In its most recent earnings report released in August, On said that it achieved another record top-line quarter. In the second quarter, the running shoe company reported record net sales of 567.7 million Swiss francs, up 27.8 percent from the same period a year ago. Over the last 12 months, On has achieved net sales of over 2 billion Swiss francs, the company added.
