It comes after another box-office month of NFL London games and two months on from the first game in South America as part of an ever-growing international window.
2024 NFL Germany game and kick-off time

NFL in Germany – what’s the history?
It marks the third straight year that Germany has played host to an NFL regular-season game as part of the league’s international expansion.
Munich staged the first ever regular-season game to be held in Germany in 2022 when Tom Brady led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Frankfurt then welcomed two games to the city in 2023 as the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs beat the Miami Dolphins before the Indianapolis Colts overcame the New England Patriots over back-to-back weeks.
The cities of Munich and Frankfurt are currently on rotation as part of a deal to host at least two games each beginning in 2022 after beating out Dusseldorf in a highly-competitive bidding process.
Germany boasts one of the NFL’s largest fanbases outside of the United States having been heavily represented in the former World League of American Football/NFL Europe/NFL Europa by Hamburg Sea Devils, Rhein Fire, Berlin Thunder, Cologne Centurions and Frankfurt Galaxy between 1991 and 2007. The country also notably hosted five NFL preseason games between 1990 and 1994.
As many as 10 NFL clubs currently own marketing rights in Germany as part of the league’s Global Markets Program, including the Panthers, Giants, Colts, Chiefs, Patriots, Steelers, Seahawks, Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions.
Meet the teams
New York Giants
The struggling Giants enter the weekend 2-7 at the bottom of the NFC East after suffering their fourth straight defeat in a 27-22 loss to the Washington Commanders in Week Nine, continuing a disappointing season that recently saw them lose star left tackle Andrew Thomas to injury for the remainder of the year.
Daniel Jones leads Brian Daboll’s side at quarterback in a make-or-break year for the former first-round pick as the Giants offense continues to limp following the offseason departure of star running back Saquon Barkley. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers has asserted himself as one of the NFL’s most gifted young talents, Tyrone Tracy Jr is beginning to impress at running back in just his second year at the position and nose tackle Dexter Lawrence has thrust himself into Defensive Player of the Year contention with nine sacks at the interior of a Giants defense that leads the league with 35 through nine weeks.
The Giants offense currently ranks 26th in total yards, 23rd in passing, 19th in rushing and last in scoring, while they arrive 18th in total defense, ninth against the pass, 28th against the run and 15th in scoring. Big Blue feature London-born right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor as well as Irish kicker Jude McAtamney, who made his regular-season debut last weekend.
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers are 2-7 under first-year head coach Dave Canales after clinching their second win of the campaign in Week Nine with a 23-22 victory over the New Orleans Saints. It marked the first career game-winning touchdown drive for 2023 No 1 overall pick Bryce Young, who had been benched at quarterback for Andy Dalton earlier in the season before returning to the line-up in Week Eight in the absence of his injured team-mate.
Young has endured a torrid time in an under-stuffed Panthers offense since being drafted out of Alabama last year, but showed promise against the Saints as he finished 16 of 26 for 171 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Chuba Hubbard has starred out of the backfield for the Panthers with 665 rushing yards and five touchdowns from 133 carries, while first-round rookie wide receiver Xavier Legette has also offered encouraging early returns within an offense that just lost Diontae Johnson in a trade to the Baltimore Ravens.
Carolina’s offense ranks 30th in total yards, 30th in passing, 25th in rushing and 29th in scoring, while their defense sits last in total yards, 25th against the pass, last against the run and last in scoring.
What else is happening?
With the NFL’s international games comes a week filled with pre-game activations and events to maximise the experience of fans travelling from around the world to watch their team in Germany.
Panthers fans can head to Augustiner Stammhaus on Friday November 8 and Saturday November 9 to a Carolina-themed party, including the VIP Tapping of the Keg at midday.
The Giants are meanwhile staging a welcome event at Beerhall on Thursday, followed by a Legends ‘Chalk Talk’ on Thursday and a Legends Meet & Greet on Friday, both of which are held at Festsaal.
Gameday will then see fans have the chance to take part in vertical jump, hardest throw and field goal challenges ahead of kickoff at the Allianz Arena.
Who’s providing the entertainment?
The NFL announced last month that Grammy-nominated artist Machine Gun Kelly (mgk) will perform at half-time of the game in Munich.
His recent release ‘Lonely Road’ is a nod to John Denver’s famous ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’, which has become a staple of the German NFL atmosphere over the last two years.
“I’m really looking forward to performing in Germany for the upcoming NFL game in Munich,” said mgk. “The energy that the German fans bring is unmatched!”
What about next year?
The NFL will make further strides in its international expansion next year when it hosts the first ever regular-season game in Spain at Real Madrid’s iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
Spain will become the fifth different country to host a game after the league ventured into Brazil during Week One this season when the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles met at Sao Paulo’s Corinthians Arena. London meanwhile hosted three games, two at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and one at Wembley, in October to lift its total to 39 since the first in 2007.
Team owners met in December to vote in favour of expanding the number of NFL games played internationally from four to up to eight-per-year beginning in 2025, with Dublin and Paris having also been touted as prospective host cities.
The New York Giants take on the Carolina Panthers in Munich, Germany live on Sky Sports NFL from 1.30pm this Sunday, with kickoff at 2.30pm.
Sky Sports+ has officially launched and will be integrated into Sky TV, streaming service NOW and the Sky Sports app – giving Sky Sports customers access to over 50 per cent more live sport this year at no extra cost.
