SNY’s Connor Hughes explains how Donald Trump’s election win could have a direct impact on the New York Jets | NFL News – Times of India
Donald Trump’s first term really affected the Jets’ administration from 2017-2021, and with Trump looking to acquire a second term, things are going to shift in the Jets’ administration for the subsequent four years. US Ambassador to the UK, Woody Johnson, was critical during Trump’s tenure; he handed the day-to-day running of the team over to his younger brother, Christopher.

Connor Hughes shares how Donald Trump might impact the Jets
Donald Trump’s election win has paved the way for debate on its impact on the New York Jets, who are currently 3-6 after winning their first game of the Jeff Ulbrich era in Week 9. His first term as president had done one thing right: appointing Jets owner Woody Johnson as the Ambassador to the United Kingdom, where he did service from 2017-2021.
According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, via tweet, if Woody is going back into this role, he will have to step out of it and leave the team in the hands of his brother Christopher. “If Woody Johnson returns as Ambassador to the UK, he cannot maintain day-to-day control of #NYJ. During Trump’s last presidency, Woody’s brother, Christopher, ran the team. Those I touched base with expected the same to happen again, although not finalized. We’ll see.”
He further tweeted, “Christopher Johnson is well respected by players and coaches for his authenticity. Those I’ve talked to stress how much they feel he cares for them. Certainly made some mistakes first time around, but many feel he’s learned from them & will be better prepared if given opportunity again.”
Christopher Johnson, who previously managed the Jets’ day-to-day operations, hired Joe Douglas, fired Adam Gase, and hired Robert Saleh before Woody’s ambassadorship ended. Johnson returned to the Jets as the primary decision maker in 2021, and despite initially being subdued, he has been deeply involved in shaping the organization over the last two seasons.
The passing game for the Jets looked much better going into Week 9, and Adams believes that with Rodgers this team can make a play-off run. However, it will be a long shot for New York to play any meaningful games in December. If the Jets do not pull it together to meet their potential, drastic decisions are needed this off-season: Rodgers is gone, Douglas is likely gone as a GM, and a new head coach will have to be hired. The future of the team, if Woody is set to return to the UK, could be decided upon by Christopher Johnson himself.
