Knicks vs. 76ers NBA Cup FREE STREAM today: How to watch Joel Embiid debut

PHILADELPHIA – The NBA Emirates Cup tips off today with the Philadelphia 76ers hosting the New York Knicks in Group Stage play – Tuesday, Nov. 12 – at Wells Fargo Center. The matchup is available to watch on multiple streaming services.

This NBA Cup opener will be broadcast live on TNT with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern. Sling TV has promotional offers for new customers.

The floundering Philadelphia 76ers (2-7) will finally get the services of superstar center Joel Embiid back just in time for the NBA Emirates Cup opener. He has been dealing with injury management issues and a recent suspension for an altercation with a 76ers beat reporter. Embiid could face a minutes restriction.

Embiid, a former MVP, averaged 34.7 points 11.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists while shooting 52.9% from the field last season. His return will boost a desperate offense that has been trying to stay afloat.

The 76ers broke a five-game skid with a 107-105 OT victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Rookie Guard Jared McCain erupted for a career-high 27 points off the bench.

Banged up to start the season, Philadelphia has been clawing for points. They have only scored 116 points once this season. They have failed to reach 110 points seven times.

Tyrese Maxey (hamstring) will miss the game, keeping the dynamic duo apart once again.

Veteran Paul George will suit up for his fifth game with Philly. George is putting up 14.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists while shooting a pedestrian 38.9% from the field.

McCain’s burst was needed, but it could be just the beginning. His floor spacing and dribbling is sharpening by the game. The rookie is averaging 10.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 45.9% from the field, including 34% from beyond the arc. He has garnered back-to-back games of 18 points or more.

Both teams play at a snail’s pace to begin with, so expect halfcourt offenses to be the difference. With a back-to-back against Cleveland tomorrow, Embiid will make the most of the minutes he is given.

New York (4-5) is also in a rut, having lost three of its last four games, including a 132-121 loss to the Indiana Pacers. Star guard Jalen Brunson tallied a team-high 33 points in that game, one of three Knicks who scored 25 or more.

Despite the losing efforts, the Knicks have scored 116 or more points in five of its last six games.

Brunson guides the offense with 25.0 points, 6.6 assists and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 47.6% from the field. He has scored 25 points in three of his last five games.

High profile acquisitions Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges have been gelling with franchise.

Towns is averaging 24.9 points, 12.3 rebounds (fifth in the NBA) and 2.3 assists while shooting 53.3% from the field. The power forward has tallied seven consecutive double-doubles and reached the 30-point mark in three straight games. Bridges, a small forward, touts 15.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 46.7% from the field.

New York, known for its hardnose defense, has been unrecognizable on that end of the court. The Knicks have allowed 121 points or more in two of their last three games. They are 21st in the NBA in defense rating and are particularly gashed in the restricted area.

Bulky guard Josh Hart is averaging 13.8 points, a career-high 9.0 rebounds and career-high 5.1 assists while shooting 57.3% from the field

The Knicks won the first-round playoff matchup in six games last season. They also won three of four against the 76ers in the regular season.

The game will take place at the former college arena for Brunson, Bridges and Hart, who all played at Villanova.

30 teams are divided into six pools of five-team groups. Three from the Eastern Conference and three from the Western Conference. Each team plays once against every team in their pool. The winners of each group, as well as one wild card team from each conference advance to the knockout rounds.
