ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter predicts that the Daniel Jones era is likely to be over for the New York Giants | NFL News – Times of India

The New York Giants are actually 2-8 in the NFL and might think of purchasing a new quarterback who will replace Daniel Jones, who indeed had a very troublesome season. ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes Jones’s New York career has come to an end at least by the end of 2024 season, considering that the Giants would not fail to seek another star. The Giants will now enter a bye week, and Schefter would not be surprised if they bench him from now on.

Adam Schefter believes Daniel Jones’s New York career has come to an end

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter predicts that the Daniel Jones era is likely to be over for the New York Giants. “I would guess that we don’t see Daniel Jones play another down for the Giants, that would be my guess right now,” Schefter said on Tuesday’s Unsportsmanlike Radio. “Because [coach] Brian Daboll’s tone yesterday was different than it was in other weeks. It was always ‘Daniel Jones is our starter,’ … and then yesterday, ‘We’re evaluating everything.'”
Schefter further noted Jones’ $23 million contract guarantee, suggesting the Giants may not risk injury if they don’t see a lasting future with him. “My guess today would be that the Daniel Jones experience, time in New York is over,” Schefter added. “They can’t risk, I don’t believe, having a guy out there right now with a $23 million injury guarantee that you’re not going to be committed to next year.”

Schefter mentions the Giants may get a page from the Denver Broncos, who also bench over an injury, but did so before the season ended. So if Jones is benched in Week 12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it will likely be Drew Lock under center. Then comes third-string Tommy DeVito. Again, that final decision will probably come after the bye week. Jones has completed 63.3 percent of his passes with an average QBR of 46.3 through 10 games into his 27th league ranking this season.
“I think just got to execute in critical situations,” Jones said after the game, per the team’s transcript. “I think the turnovers today killed us. There’s been other things that have held us back in other close games, so we’ve got to look at where we’re coming up short. I’m not sure it’s one thing consistently.”

The Giants will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, November 24. Any resting of Jones comes from Drew Lock or Tommy DeVito. Do not expect any quarterback news until the team returns from their bye week on November 20.
