Despite the absence of Daniel Jones, the New York Giants continued to struggle.

With Tommy DeVito starting at quarterback, the Giants lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by the final score of 30-7 at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

After Jones requested to be released following his benching, DeVito stepped into the first-string role for New York.

He took awhile to get going, as the Giants didn’t score a point until the fourth quarter. They trailed 23-0 at the half, gaining a mere 45 total yards through the first two quarters of play.

DeVito finished 21-of-31 for 189 yards without a touchdown or an interception, adding 32 rushing yards. He was also sacked four times.

He briefly exited the contest in the fourth quarter after getting hit in the chest following a throw, but he returned after missing one play.

New York recorded a single-digit scoring total for the fourth time this year, while head coach Brian Daboll’s team has scored more than 20 points in just three games during the 2024 season.

Fans and pundits called out DeVito and the Giants for the subpar performance.

The #Giants look exactly the way you would expect a team to after their front office told them their season was over with seven games still to play.

This #Giants product is unwatchable.
The last time the team put together this kind of hapless product for its fans, they offered season ticket holders a free medium pepsi for coming to a pointless Week 17 game.
So be on the lookout for another great offer coming your way soon!

For the Buccaneers, Baker Mayfield completed 80 percent of his throws for 294 yards. He found the end zone on the ground in the second quarter, mimicking DeVito’s celebration.

The Giants fell to 2-9 and will have a quick turnaround as they attempt to end a six-game losing streak, traveling to face the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday.
