The only thing that highlights the existence of a relationship is an Instagram post that Kolek uploaded in August 2020. The post contained two slides, the first consisting of the future NBA star sitting on a cycle and a girl in a red dress and black shades sitting behind him, her arms crossed around Kolek’s waist. Another photo highlighted the ‘couple’ visiting the famed Vigeland Park in Norway. Kolek and his beau seemed to attempt to recreate one pose made by the statue in the park. This caused Kolek to lift the mystery girl from his back while she looked up in the sky with her legs pointed upward. Both individuals seemed to be all smiles in the photo.

Given the absence of a tag and a caption, it is hard to determine the mystery girl’s identity. From the remarks left in the comment section like “Awww Tyler has a heart” to “Aww y’all are sooo cute”, one can determine she is Kolek’s girlfriend. However, even the comments gave no hint of her identity. Furthermore, the post was uploaded four years ago and is the only one that highlights the athlete with her. A lot can happen in 4 years. Trainer Nick Correia revealed being influenced by Tyler Kolek to quit his addiction: “This is why I love this game”

At 17, Tyler Kolek worked with a trainer to help him with strength and conditioning guidance. Interestingly, before this role, the trainer used to serve as the Division III basketball coach at UMass Dartmouth.

Unfortunately, the trainer had struggles with his own. According to the New York Post, Correia soon developed an addiction. The situation got so bad that even a victory celebration beer with the staff could reportedly turn into a bender. Drinks reportedly turned to drugs. Eventually, for Correira, basketball took a backseat. He later revealed, “It kind of pulled away from the love of the game. The problem is I’d have one beer and want to stay out. I used it as a way to buy my drugs.” But that was until Tyler Kolek came along.

In The New York Post interview, Correia described Kolek as “a zero-star recruit”—someone who didn’t have many ranks to boast about. The athlete didn’t even have high-end scholarship offers that he could boast about. This, however, only increased Correia’s respect for the player. After all, as he stated, “He (Kolek) had to work for everything. And you can’t help when you watch a guy who is gritty like that — like, that’s the game to me, guys that play hard, that play selfless. I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, this is why I love this game.’ Tyler was the first time again where I didn’t want to miss a game, sitting on the edge of my seat, watching with emotion and passion.”

Today, Nick Correia remains an important part of the now-Knicks rookie’s life. He even became Kolek’s spokesperson during an August interview and said “That kid is going to play with energy like John Starks did in the ’90s. Spike Lee is going to have a Tyler Kolek jersey in the rotation.”
