New York Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich clarified that the Jets have no plans to permanently shut down Aaron Rodgers | NFL News – Times of India
The New York Jets are purported to have been talking to team owner Woody Johnson and clubhouse leaders earlier in the season about possibly benching quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has refused medical scans based on injury and benching. With the Jets returning to the building in preparation for their next game, these rumors with the press need to be addressed.New York Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich let it all hang out about the Aaron Rodgers rumors.
Jeff Ulbrich dismissed rumors of Aaron Rodgers’ benching
New York Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich responded to reports regarding Aaron Rodgers’s multiple injuries that he refused to go for scans so that he can keep playing. Rodgers refused scans so as not to disclose the severity of his injuries, and he feared going off the field.
Ulbrich said, “All I can say — and you’d have to ask Aaron if he’s fully healthy — but he’s better off today than he’s been as of late. So he’s definitely feeling healthier than he has for probably the last month, and a healthy Aaron Rodgers is the Aaron Rodgers we all love. So, excited about what that looks like.”
Rodgers hasn’t missed a game this year for the Jets, though rumors swirl over his health due to inadequate investigation on his part. Some say he’s avoiding such scans so that major problems cannot impact his starting roster. If Rodgers is avoiding medical scans, however, his head coach doesn’t know about it either. Ulbrich said, “That’s news to me.”
Jets’ owner Woody Johnson suggested having Rodgers sit after the Jets’ loss to Denver in Week 4, sparking a heated debate on social media and sports talk shows. Rodgers’ struggles and potentially compromised health have led to a heated debate on whether to take a seat in favor of Tyrod Taylor. But when asked if there has been any talk of shutting down Rodgers, Ulbrich replied flatly, “There has not.”

The Jets, being 3-8, have no chance of reaching the postseason but are still determined to fight hard in the remaining six games. Amid rumors, Rodgers is confirmed to be the starting quarterback for the final stretch.
