Dallas Cowboys lists Cooper Rush on the injury report ahead of the mid-week matchup against the New York Giants | NFL News – Times of India

In Week 12, the Dallas Cowboys outlasted the Washington Commanders, 34-26, with plenty of aid from Rico Dowdle in both rushing and receiving, just as he was in Week 5 versus the Steelers in trying to be more consistent in its running game. Tyler Smith and Trevon Diggs return to work at The Star after missing Sunday. Zack Martin and Jake Ferguson didn’t make it.And Cooper Rush is listed as “limited” with a knee issue.

Cooper Rush is listed as a limited participant on Monday

The Dallas Cowboys will have a short week of rest heading into Week 13 ahead of their annual Thanksgiving game against the New York Giants. An estimated injury report was released Tuesday, detailing a group of players with knee injuries, including quarterback Cooper Rush. His status for Thursday’s game is in question due to his recent takeover of the starting role, after Dak Prescott was out. Coach Mike McCarthy said of Rush, playing in place of Dak Prescott, who is injured and out for the year, “He’s got some work to do but I think we’re going to be fine.”

Monday’s practice was a walk-through, so Rush’s playing status was a best guess at his normal practice skills. His status for Tuesday’s practice will be watched. Should Rush not be able to play because of a knee, it will likely be Trey Lance taking snaps under center for Dallas. Lance played in two games this season and didn’t try a pass in Week 12’s victory over the Washington Commanders. Rush threw two touchdown passes and zero interceptions, completing 75% of his passes.
Rush was 24-for-32 for 247 yards and two scores, effectively managing the game and targeting key playmakers, including tight end Luke Schoonmaker on a 22-yard touchdown catch. The Cowboys’ offense finished with 332 total yards, including 241 through the air, overcoming inefficiencies on third down (2-for-11) to secure the win.

Cooper Rush needs three straight wins to replace injured Dak Prescott for discussion of postseason to get at all realistic. The Cowboys (4-7) are likely to be favored in two of their remaining games, and already lead by four points as an annual Thanksgiving Day host to the New York Giants (2-9). The Cowboys could make something of their improbable 34-26 win at Washington, ending a five-game losing streak.
