Sebastian Gurevich is appointed as Hotel Manager of The Chatwal, New York, bringing extensive Hyatt leadership experience to enhance the luxury hotel’s operations.

NEW YORK, NY – The Chatwal, New York, a landmark luxury hotel in the heart of Manhattan, part of Hyatt‘s prestigious Unbound Collection, announce the appointment of Sebastian Gurevich as Hotel Manager. With over 17 years of leadership experience spanning nine Hyatt properties in seven cities, including the brand’s global flagship location Grand Hyatt New York in midtown Manhattan, Gurevich brings a passion for hospitality and commitment to authentic and genuine guest excellence to the doors of The Chatwal, New York. As Hotel Manager, Gurevich will oversee day-to-day operations and uphold the hotel’s reputation as a leader in the luxury hospitality sector.

Conveniently located on 44th Street, The Chatwal, New York, is steps from the best of entertainment, dining, shopping, Broadway theaters and the city’s media and financial giants. The lavish landmark structure, originally built in 1905 by Stanford White, has been restored and renewed by master architect Thierry Despont, re-launching in 2010. The Chatwal’s 76 keys of expertly appointed guest rooms draw inspiration from early 20th-century glamor, including 28 luxury Suites and 14 ‘themed’ accommodations with spacious designer terraces. Guests of the hotel enjoy an array of curated experiences, including a team of professional Butlers, in-room dining and distinct private bars, additionally home to the historic The Lambs Club, an elegant restaurant serving new American cuisine.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sebastian to The Chatwal, New York team,” said Matt Tobin, Director of Sales and Marketing for The Chatwal, New York. “His almost two decades of experience with Hyatt Hotels, combined with a genuine enthusiasm for creating unforgettable guest experiences, makes him the ideal person to lead our operations and elevate our standards even further.”

Gurevich began his hospitality career with Hyatt Hotels in July 2007 as a front desk agent at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco, rising through various roles to his most recent position as Area Director of Operations overseeing Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis. From there, he led the launch of the first Caption by Hyatt, a groundbreaking lifestyle brand within the Hyatt portfolio. Gurevich was a key player in the launch’s operational oversight and seamless leading of both properties, bringing innovation and enhanced guest experiences to these new hotel concepts. Prior roles include Director of Operations at the Resort at Squaw Creek, where he oversaw rooms, spa, and golf, and the Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Phoenix, where he was integral to setting new luxury standards following the property’s $32 million renovation. In recognition for his exceptional leadership and lasting impact within the industry, Gurevich was awarded Hyatt’s prestigious Director of Operations of the Year award in 2018.

“I am truly honored to return to New York and have the opportunity to lead The Chatwal New York. This property holds a special place in the city’s hospitality scene, and I am committed to building on its remarkable successes and upholding our stellar reputation.” said Sebastian Gurevich. “It’s an exciting new chapter of working with the Chatwal team to continue delivering an exceptional experience for all of our guests.”

Originally from Argentina, Gurevich holds a Bachelor’s in International Business from California State University, Long Beach, and a Master’s in Hospitality Management from DeVry University. Known for his strategic approach and people-centered leadership, Gurevich’s expertise will be invaluable in enhancing The Chatwal, New York’s legacy reputation of luxury service as he steps into this new role.
