Footage reveals NY Giants scouting future top NFL draft picks from Colorado
The New York Giants are in the draft business.
After acknowledging that Daniel Jones’ $160 million contract had become an organizational failure, a 2-9 team that could hold the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft was seen scouting some of the biggest prospects in college.
Giants general manager Joe Schoen was spotted on Tuesday at a practice for the Colorado Buffaloes, who are led by former NFL/MLB star Deion Sanders.
The Buffaloes (8-3) have dominated college headlines the last two seasons and are No. 25 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.
While fans immediately wondered if Schoen preferred two-way star Travis Hunter or Deion’s son, Shedeur, with the top pick in the 2025 draft, it’s already clear that Colorado will dominate the amateur selection process.
Schoen and the Giants appear to already understand that fact, and the GM was seen engaging up close with Deion while the Buffaloes prepared for another game.
“The best part for the Giants — and probably the saddest part — is they don’t have to try and tank,” Jake Crain, a host on The Daily Wire, exclusively told talkSPORT on the Run Down.
“They can just go out there and play.”
The Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders and Giants are racing to the bottom in the hopes of drafting No. 1 next year.
While the Jags have Trevor Lawrence at QB, all three teams would instantly benefit from adding Hunter.
Shedeur is also talented enough to make Jacksonville rethink its long-term commitment to Lawrence, who’s struggled in 2024 after signing a huge $275 million deal.
While Hunter tops most mock drafts, Shedeur has completed 73.4 percent of his passes for 3,488 yards and 30 touchdowns this season.
“If I’m looking at somebody to hire, I want to hire the guy that can do the the most things the best,” Crain said.
“That’s what Travis Hunter is. He’s kind of a rarity.
“We’ve seen guys play both ways, but really not to this level and not being this effective.
“Travis Hunter is going to be that guy.”
After moving on from Saquon Barkley — who’s now an MVP candidate for the surging Philadelphia Eagles — the Giants badly need help on both sides of the ball.
Hunter and Shedeur could be franchise changers in New York.
Sanders confirmed the super-talented duo aren’t done at Colorado yet, and opened the door to playing in a bowl game.
“It’s not the last time you’re going to see them in a Buffs uniform,” Sanders said. “These two and all the rest of the seniors have done a wonderful job of getting us to where we are, instilling so much expectation in our fan base and expectation in ourselves.
“So, we’re going to fight and try to go out there and kick some butt and end this thing on the right note. And we are going to go to a bowl game in this thing on the right note because our fans deserve the absolute best.”
But whether Coach Prime allows his son to play for the rebuilding Giants in New York is another huge question that could soon be anwered.
“I know where I want them to go,” Sanders previously said. “So it’s certain cities that ain’t going to happen. It’s going to be an Eli (Manning).”
Peyton’s brother ended up with Giants after forcing his way out of San Diego in 2004, after being drafted at No. 1 by the Chargers.
