Tommy DeVito contract details: How much money is Giants QB making in 2024 salary | Sporting News United Kingdom
The Giants are taking on the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day — and in the battle of NFC East rivals, New York’s quarterback carousel continues to turn.
Although the Giants started the season with Daniel Jones starting under center, the team decided to move Tommy DeVito into the starting role beginning with the Nov. 24 game against the Buccaneers, resulting in Jones’ release.
Jones struggled consistently in the early part of the 2024 season, and before New York’s Week 12 game against Tampa Bay, the Giants made the switch. After his release, Jones signed with the Vikings.
New York seemed ready to make the rest of the year DeVito’s show — but then the 26-year-old picked up a forearm injury, one that casts his availability for Thursday’s game into doubt. Drew Lock, who has spent the season as the backup quarterback, could get the start in Dallas unless DeVito recovers in the nick of time.
What is DeVito’s contract situation for the 2024 season? Sporting News breaks it down.

Tommy DeVito contract details, salary
DeVito signed with the Giants after the 2023 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent. When he arrived in New York, he signed a two-year deal worth $1.665 million. He earned a base salary of $750,000 last year, and he will earn $915,000 during the 2024 season.
Those numbers strike quite a comparison to the four-year, $160 million extension Jones signed just 20 months ago. The Giants are taking a $22.2 million cap hit for releasing Jones, so saving the money on DeVito is huge for New York’s future.
DeVito’s inexpensive deal also allowed the Giants to bring in Lock on a one-year, $5 million deal as a backup quarterback — and he might be sorely needed for Thursday’s Thanksgiving game if DeVito is sidelined by injury.
Tommy DeVito stats and future outlook
DeVito started six games for New York last season. He was benched late in his sixth and final start on Dec. 25 in favor of Tyrod Taylor, who is now with the New York Jets. Here’s a look at how did in his 2023 starts:

In his lone 2024 start, which also marked the only game in which he has played this season, DeVito threw for 189 yards on 21-of-31 passing, with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
While far from a prolific passer, his career passer rating of 88.4 is slightly better than the 84.3 rating of Jones, albeit in a much smaller sample size — 10 games played compared to 70 games played.
Yet his accomplishments (or lack thereof) might not matter much to New York. The team is seemingly looking toward the future and the promise of a high draft pick in 2025, and as a result even a lackluster quarterback could serve the Giants’ purpose. And also, DeVito’s forearm injury could keep him out of at least the Thanksgiving game against Dallas, if not longer. Giants fans will have to wait and see which passer will get the start Thursday.
