49ers vs. Bills prediction: ‘Sunday Night Football’ odds, picks, best bet

We could be looking at a Winter Wonderland in Buffalo when the Bills host the 49ers in a December affair with playoff implications.

Buffalo will likely see three to five inches of snow, although that could increase as nearby southern areas are expecting two to three feet.

The total of 44.5 has to be looking intriguing, given that forecast and heavy winds being expected.

Importantly, it looks like 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has a good chance to play after missing last week with a shoulder injury. It’d be a boon for San Francisco’s offense as Brandon Allen struggled in his first start last week.

49ers vs. Bills prediction

The 49ers have been a disaster in recent weeks; there’s no denying that.

Their cache as an elite team that has underperformed has mostly evaporated at this point, thanks to injuries and poor defensive play.

The run defense is of particular concern; they’re ranked 21st in defense-adjusted value over average (DVOA) against the run.

Even more concerning is that Nick Bosa isn’t practicing, and it looks like he’s on the outside looking in at playing this week.

It’s hard to expect the 49ers will pull an upset here.

Kyle Shannahan is a well-respected coach and should be able to scheme plenty of offensive possessions that result in yardage.

However, the 49ers have a 50 percent touchdown percentage in the red zone, which is the fifth worst mark in the NFL.

Meanwhile, the Bills are top 10 in the NFL at allowing touchdowns in the red zone so there’s a lot of reason to be skeptical that the 49ers can convert in what’s expected to be a windy, snow affair on Sunday night.
