The College Football Playoff selection committee war room will not just decide which teams will have a chance to win a national title, but it’ll also have millions of dollars riding on it from bettors.

With just conference championship games remaining this Friday and Saturday, oddsboards reveal which teams have legitimate shots to to rattle off a few wins and get to the national championship game and which teams may find their way in or out of the 12-team field.

Teams on the bubble include Alabama, Ole Miss, Miami and South Carolina.

Alabama owns -130 odds to make the playoffs, according to FanDuel, with the “No” coming in at +102.

The Crimson Tide have excellent wins over ranked Georgia, South Carolina and Missouri, although their three losses against Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma hurt their cause.

Selection officials will undoubtedly be arguing the Crimson Tide’s case back and forth over Miami, who oddsmakers do not expect to make the playoff, with +750 odds at FanDuel.

The remainder of the bubble teams are similar to Miami, long shots who will need some help.

That help would include the SMU Mustangs (11-1), should they lose to Clemson in the ACC title game.

Betting on the NFL?


SMU is a 2.5-point favorite against the Tigers on Saturday.

Alabama to make the CFP has about the same odds as Clemson to beat SMU, implying that this is the help the Crimson Tide need to make the cut and get in.
