The Rooftop at Pier 17 to Offer Year-Round Entertainment in NYC

The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City hosts concerts all summer long, but now, the venue will become a year-round performance venue with a custom-designed glass structure.

The new, enclosed structure will feature floor-ceiling glass sliding, which will transform The Rooftop at Pier 17 into a climate-controlled, indoor setting — while still showcasing views of lower Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge. In the winter months, up to 3,000 fans will be able to attend the venue, which will include a new VIP balcony level. Then, in the spring months, the glass structure will be removed, allowing a capacity of 3,500 in its original open-air format.

Fans will be able to view winter concerts at the venue starting in late 2025.

Live Nation remains the exclusive booking parter with the venue, which just extended a five-year partnership with Seaport Entertainment Group. Amid the new design, the venue will be able to expand its Seaport Concert Series, adding 25 more gigs to its normal 60-concert annual schedule.

Anton Nikodemus, chief executive of SEG, noted in a statement that Live Nation “has been successful in helping us bring our vision to life.”

“We look forward to The Rooftop at Pier 17 transforming into a year-round concert venue. Our state-of-the-art space will deliver an unparalleled experience for both artists and guests, providing the quintessential New York City live music venue no matter the season,” Nikodemus said.

Since its inception in 2018, the Rooftop at Pier 17 has hosted an array of artists, ranging from rock’s Kings of Leon, All Time Low, and Blondie, to country artists like Zach Bryan, and pop stars Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X.

“With its breathtaking views of New York City and intimate atmosphere, The Rooftop at Pier 17 is truly a special place for live music,” Live Nation Northeast senior vice president of booking Stacie George added.

Acts are already scheduled for next year including Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine, Elderbrook, and Riley Green. Find The Rooftop at Pier 17’s full upcoming schedule here.
