ITA Airways, Italy’s national carrier, has announced a series of adjustments to its North America schedule for the upcoming Northern summer 2025 season. These updates include changes in flight frequencies and aircraft types, aimed at optimizing operations and aligning capacity with market demand. The revised schedule reflects the airline’s strategic focus on enhancing connectivity while addressing seasonal fluctuations in travel demand.

Rome Fiumicino – Chicago O’Hare

ITA Airways will reduce its Rome Fiumicino (FCO) to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) service to a seasonal operation from 9 May 2025 to 29 September 2025. Initially, the route will operate four weekly flights using Airbus A330-200 aircraft, increasing to five weekly from 2 June 2025. This marks a reduction from the previously planned six weekly flights starting 30 March 2025 and daily service from 4 June 2025 to 25 October 2025.

Rome Fiumicino – Los Angeles

Changes to the Rome (FCO) to Los Angeles (LAX) route will take effect in the early summer. From 30 March to 30 May 2025, three out of six weekly flights will be operated by the A330-900neo, replacing the Airbus A350-900. Starting 31 May 2025, the route will increase to daily service, earlier than the previously planned date of 6 May 2025.

Rome Fiumicino – Miami

From 1 June 2025, ITA Airways will replace one of its seven weekly Rome (FCO) to Miami (MIA) flights with an A350-900, previously operated by the A330-900neo. This change enhances passenger comfort on one of the airline’s most popular transatlantic routes.

The overall frequency remains at 21 weekly flights, maintaining its position as a cornerstone of the airline’s North American network.

Rome Fiumicino – San Francisco

The Rome (FCO) to San Francisco (SFO) route will experience reductions in frequency during the summer and autumn periods. From 4 May to 31 May 2025, flights will drop from five to three weekly, operated by the A330-900neo. Starting 2 October 2025, the frequency will again decrease from daily to three weekly.

Rome Fiumicino – Toronto

Service between Rome (FCO) and Toronto (YYZ) will see adjustments in aircraft type and frequency. Between 30 March and 4 May 2025, four of five weekly flights will utilize the A330-200, replacing the A330-900neo. From 5 May to 29 May 2025, one weekly flight will continue with the A330-200.
