Karl-Anthony Towns makes interesting LeBron James point after New York Knicks loss
Karl-Anthony Towns urges New York Knicks fans to stop panicking.
When the Knicks green-lit a blockbuster trade to acquire Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves, many questioned the team’s decision-making.
To be honest, the Knicks haven’t really benefitted from the trade in the grand scheme of things. After all, they have just one extra win after 25 games as compared to the 2023-24 NBA season.
Following the team’s recent 108-100 loss against the Atlanta Hawks, many have hit the panic button as the team is out of the 2024 NBA Cup.
Karl-Anthony Towns is following LeBron James’ blueprint
When Towns addressed the eight-point loss against the Hawks, he was asked about the team’s inconsistency throughout the season.
KAT seemingly took offense to the question as he urged fans to take a trip down memory lane and remember LeBron James‘ first season with the Miami Heat.
“You just want to be the best that you can be. Miami Heat years ago with LeBron had a whole year it took before they figured out how to put a banner up,” Towns told the media.
He added: “Other teams as well, the Lakers with LeBron and everything it took them. After 75% of the season, they figured it out. You don’t know.”
James’ first season with the Heat was full of ups and downs. Although they finished as the second seed in the Eastern Conference and reached the 2011 NBA Finals, they were outplayed by the Dallas Mavericks.
However, things were different for the Heat in the next seasons as they won two straight NBA titles in 2012 and 2013.
Towns makes one major thing clear
The Knicks big man further said that he still doesn’t have an idea how long it will take for things to click among the newly formed Knicks roster.
“I don’t have a crystal ball in front of me to tell you how long before things are fully clicking at a consistent level,” KAT continued.
“I can’t tell you an exact time, but I can tell you that every day we’re working to be the best version of ourselves and how we can consistently show that to our fans,” the 4x NBA All-Star concluded.
Following their quarter-final exit from the 2024 NBA Cup, the Knicks are now 15-10 for the season.
If this is what the team is playing like without perfectly gelling with each other, then the sky is the limit for the Knicks once everyone is on the same page.
