Giants linked as trade destination for Falcons 0 million quarterback | Sporting News

The New York Giants will find themselves in the quarterback market again, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they tried to find a bridge option for the short term.

While the future of the position could very well depend on where the Giants land in the 2025 NFL Draft order, it isn’t a far-fetched idea that New York brings in a veteran while also selecting a potential franchise player.

Most of the options for the Giants are likely in free agency, but they were recently linked as a potential trade destination for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, according to ESPN insiders Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano.

“I could see the Giants, Jets, Raiders, Steelers, Browns, Titans, Saints, Panthers and Seahawks as teams that could be looking for a signal-caller in the offseason,” Graziano wrote.

“Cousins would be an upgrade for many of the teams you listed. The Giants would make sense for him to serve as a bridge starter for a draft pick,” Fowler wrote.

Cousins signed a four-year, $180 million deal with the Falcons last offseason, and he carries salary-cap hits of $40 million in 2025 and $57.5 million each in 2026 and 2027.

Coming off a torn Achilles that ended his 2024 season prematurely, Cousins got off to a fast start with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions during the first nine games of the season while averaging 258.7 passing yards per game. Over the last four games since then, however, he’s failed to throw a single touchdown pass and has thrown eight interceptions.

It would be a peculiar move for the Giants to give up draft capital to acquire Cousins and his massive contract with a plan to draft a prospect with a top pick.

With that said, the NFL is always full of surprises.
