Chaos Erupts in New York as Police Arrest ‘Protesting’ Fans for Interrupting Knicks vs Timberwolves Live Game
It is no secret that NBA fans can sometimes become too passionate about their love for a particular franchise. From allegedly shouting for LeBron James’s son to have an accident in front of the Lakers player to Toronto Raptors fans throwing obscenities at Stephen Curry’s mother as she returned to her hotel, instances of such moments have become more common than usual. However, another disruption that hadn’t been seen in a long time was fans running to the court to protest a team, or a particular issue. Reportedly frustrated with how things were going on during the ongoing Timberwolves-Knicks game, two individuals decided to repeat that action.
Prior to the ongoing NBA game at the Target Center reaching half-time, two women stood up from their seats as the whistle blew. Since they were only a few rows behind the courtside seats, it took security some time to become aware as they began running across the court. However, it didn’t take long after that for them to be pinned down. One of the women had to be escorted out by three guys, as two of them held her legs while the other lifted her by one of her arms.
NBA reporter Phil Mackey confirmed that at least one of the fans has gotten arrested. Furthermore, the reporter theorized that the women were “protesting the pathetic 2nd quarter effort by the Timberwolves”. Therefore, “it’s tough to blame her”.

The claim by Phil Mackey is all but speculation. After all, as of yet, there is no clear reason on why the two women chose to engage in the action that was sure to get them into trouble. Nothing that they were wearing specified an allegiance towards a particular team, or cause. However, if they really were protesting the efforts by the Minnesota Timberwolves squad, then that would be somewhat understandable. After all, Anthony Edwards barely held the 33-32 lead when the 1 quarter concluded. Over the next 12 minutes, however, the Knicks ended up adding 41 more points to their total, while the Timberwolves could only add 18 points within that same timeframe. While the scoring gap wasn’t so big during the 3 quarter, Jalen Brunson and co continued holding the advantage. As a result, with 10:34 minutes remaining in the 4 quarter, Anthony Edwards and co trailed by 74-109!

It was only recently when the Minnesota Timberwolves were able to improve their position on the points chart by winning 6 of the last 7 games. Now, from the looks of it, the team may be once again heading towards a downward spiral.
Given the abysmal performance from Anthony Edwards and co’s side, the ‘protest’ may not become the top story of the day. However, it may still have left a memorable impression amongst the attendees at the Target Center. After all, it is not everyday when fans attempt to run across the court, and are pinned down and escorted out by security.
