United Airlines to launch first flights between Rome and Denver
United Airlines will introduce flights between Rome and
Denver next year, subject to government approval, in what will be the first ever
service between the cities.
Flights from Rome Fiumicino Airport to the airline’s hub
at Denver International Airport will commence on 2 May and operate daily
through to 25 September.
Services from Rome will depart at 14.20, arriving in Denver
at 17.45, and flights from Denver will depart at 17.50 and arrive in Rome at
12.20 the following day. Flights will be operated using B787-9 aircraft.
“With the entry of Colorado in the map of US states
directly served, in 2025 Fiumicino will have the largest-ever schedule to North
America,” said Ivan Bassato, chief aviation officer, Aeroporti di Roma. “North America is the leading long-haul market
for Rome, showing a strongly growing performance with 21 per cent traffic increase
versus January-November 2023, and 33 per cent compared to the same period of 2019.”
United will operate 14 non-stop flights per day from Italy
to US destinations next summer. The airline already flies year-round from Rome
and Milan to New York/Newark and ‘nearly’ year-round from Rome to Washington
Dulles. In addition, it operates seasonal services from Rome to Chicago and San
Francisco, from Milan to Chicago, and from Naples and Venice to New York/Newark.
United is also launching new seasonal services from Venice
to Washington DC, starting 23 May, and from Palermo to New York/Newark,
starting 22 May.
