The Charlotte Hornets are the only active team to not take part on Christmas Day. The franchise joined NBA in 1988 and in last 36 years, Hornets never played on the merry day. Their owner moved the franchise to New Orleans in 2003 and continued to play as the Hornets until 2013. Their previous name was Charlotte Bobcats and in 2013, the Bobcats confirmed they would begin playing under the Hornets name in the 2014–15 season.
