Aaron Robinson’s future with the Giants is murky

Yes, Aaron Robinson is still on the New York Giants’ roster.

It has been so long since we have actually seen Robinson play — or even practice — football that it is fair to wonder if he can still be a useful player.

Let’s discuss Robinson as we continue player-by-player profiles of the Giants’ 90-man roster.

The skinny

Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 195
Opening day age: 25
Position: Cornerback

Contract: Final year of four-year, $5,143,292 deal | 2024 cap hit: $1,636,502 | Guaranteed at signing: $1,100,576

Career to date

The Giants drafted Robinson in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He has played in only 11 of a potential 51 regular-season games.

The health issues began immediately for Robinson. He had core muscle surgery during his first offseason as an NFL player and was not activated until Week 8.

In 2022, Robinson had an emergency appendectomy after Week 1. When he returned in Week 4, he suffered a torn ACL and MCL. He has not played or practiced since.

2024 outlook

Unknown. Head coach Brian Daboll said in the spring that Robinson was still working with the rehab group.

When training camp begins it will be almost 22 months since Robinson has participated in a practice — an eternity in the NFL. It is not certain that Robinson will be practicing when camp begins on July 24. His future is impossible to predict.

The Giants can save $1.361 million against the salary cap with only a dead money charge of $275,144 if they cut him.
