Advance Auto Parts to close over 700 stores. Here’s how many stores operate in New York

Some New York Advance Auto Parts stores could close as the company announced the shuttering of over 700 of its stores nationwide by mid-2025, according to the company’s third quarter earnings report released Thursday.

The closures are part of the company’s “strategic plan to improve business performance,” the report says, as comparable store sales decreased 2.3% in Q3 2024 and net sales are down $100 million from $2.2 billion in the third quarter of 2023.

“We are pleased to have made progress on our strategic actions, including the completion of the sale of Worldpac and a comprehensive operational productivity review of our business,” Advance Auto Parts president and CEO Shane O’Kelly said. “We are charting a clear path forward and introducing a new three-year financial plan, with a focus on executing core retail fundamentals to improve the productivity of all our assets and to create shareholder value.”

Here’s what to know.
