Axel Arigato has officially opened its first-ever store in the USA, marking a major milestone in its global expansion strategy. Located in SoHo at 273 Lafayette Street, the 1,130 sq ft flagship store provides a physical space for Axel Arigato’s loyal American fanbase to experience the brand’s iconic Scandinavian minimalism and contemporary design firsthand.
The store, situated on the corner of Lafayette and Prince Streets, is designed in collaboration with Halleroed, the architectural firm responsible for Axel Arigato’s European stores. The minimalist design blends natural materials like European travertine with metal finishes, creating a modern and inviting space. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the store with natural light, while a bespoke speaker system integrated into the walls nods to the brand’s connection with music and live events.
The New York store will feature a range of Axel Arigato’s popular footwear, including Dice, Area, and Clean 90, alongside select ready-to-wear pieces. Additionally, the store will offer an exclusive capsule collection, available only in New York. This collection includes black t-shirts, caps, and grinders featuring the ‘ARIGATO NYC’ logo. On opening day, the first 10 customers will receive exclusive gift boxes with items from the collection.
Albin Johansson, CEO and Co-Founder of Axel Arigato, shared his excitement: “Axel Arigato NYC signals our continued drive and ambition for global growth in our tenth year of business. The USA is a hugely important market for us, and we’re excited to finally welcome our American customers into a physical space.”
Jens Werner, Creative Director, also commented on the significance of the new store: “New York means so much to so many people. To finally have a space where we can bring all these people together is so exciting – and it is our ambition to nurture, explore, and collaborate with long-standing and new friends.”
Axel Arigato plans to celebrate the store’s opening with a series of events across music, art, and design, starting in September 2024. The brand is also preparing for a special collaboration set to launch in October 2024, further engaging its growing global community.
