Bengals at Giants NFL Week 6 ‘Sunday Night Football’ game pick, open thread

Carrie Underwood likes to remind us all of the challenge found in waiting all day for Sunday night. The second NBC’s earwig of an intro anthem begins, throngs of NFL fans rush to their screens to catch a glimpse of just who and how much of their favorite team is shown in the opening montage.

The NFL’s offering for Sunday Night Football in Week 6 might test the viewership of the most ardent fan. Everyone understands that New York City and the tri-state area offer unparalleled American viewing audiences, so promoting those two teams from New Jersey pays dividends.

This week New York fans get their fill. Tonight the New York Giants host the Cincinnati Bengals in a game lacking a pronounced “punch” to your football Sunday. Then, it’s back to the Meadowlands for Monday Night Football as the New York Jets host the Buffalo Bills to close out Week 6.

But the focus remains on tonight, and the interesting matchup between the Giants and Bengals. The Giants are stuck at 2-3 while Cincinnati is a thoroughly disappointing 1-4. Cincinnati has seldom looked like the team that’s dominated in recent seasons, but tonight’s game could help them find their mojo.

Sure, wins aren’t a QB stat, but Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is 1-13 in primetime games — that’s the worst record under the big lights since 1970. That doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence for Jones’ or the Giants chances tonight. If you haven’t seen a Giants game recently, be sure to pay attention to head coach Brian Daboll, who looks like a completely different person after losing a ton of weight.

have the Bengals enter tonight’s game as 4.5-point road favorites with FanDuel Sportsbook. Though it’s anyone’s guess as to what version of the Bengals takes the field tonight, chances are good that they claim another “W” before the clock strikes midnight.

I hope to be pleasantly surprised by Big Blue, but I see the Bengals improving to 2-4 with a 30-23 win over the Giants.

Here’s your open thread for tonight’s game. Sit back and relax, and be kind to your fellow Rumblers in the comment section!
