Tyrese Maxey took the NBA world for a walk down memory lane. The star-studded Madison Square Garden, which has witnessed many memorable moments over the years, cannot forget the iconic Reggie Miller moment from 1995. 29 years later, the Philadelphia 76ers star reminded everyone of the moment with his brilliance on the court.

Tonight in Game 5 against the NY Knicks, the Sixers were down 6 with 25 seconds remaining on the clock. The Phillies already had their back door open as they were 3-1 down in the series. However, Maxey pulled them back into the series by dropping two back-to-back three-pointers to force the game into overtime and eventually won the game at MSG. During the post-game press conference, a reporter reminded him of the Reggie Miller moment, where he dropped 8 points in 9 seconds to win the game against at the Knicks at MSG.

Speaking of it, Maxey said, “That was a long time ago,” and also stated that he would go back and watch those series of shots from the Indiana Pacers legend. He also added how the team’s trainer Kevin Johnson spoke about the Miller moment after the buzzer. The 23-year-old star who was born 5 years after the moment definitely needed someone to remind him.

Right after the game moved into overtime, Maxey burst into an intense full-court celebration, screaming his lungs out at the MSG crowd. Speaking of the moment, he said, “I was saying some things that my grandma probably wouldn’t like.”

Tyrese added, ” lose a game like that… I would have been crushed.” After a strong performance in the first three quarters, he blew the fourth quarter by missing three crucial free throws. Even during the 1995 Conference Semi-Final series between the Pacers and Knicks went down the wire to Game 7 at MSG. The Pacers eventually grabbed the series in Game 7 and moved to the Conference Finals. Miller alongside Rik Smits led the Pacers offense, averaging 22.6 points per game.
