Buffalo Bills at New York Jets odds, expert picks, how to watch: How will Jets respond after coaching change?

Follow live Monday Night Football coverage of the Bills vs. Jets today

The Jeff Ulbrich era begins on Monday night when the New York Jets welcome the Buffalo Bills, a nearly field-goal road favorite, to MetLife Stadium. We are about to find out how much of the Jets’ issues were on Robert Saleh and which were due to teamwide issues.

The Jets’ biggest problem this season is the same one we’ve seen in recent years — the offense is terrible, and Aaron Rodgers’s return has not yet solved that. Rodgers is off to a brutal start through the first five weeks, ranking 21st in QBR (49.1), 26th in passer rating (81.6), and 29th in yards per pass attempt (6.0). Overall, the Jets’ offense is averaging just 18.6 points per game.

That, more than anything, led to Saleh’s dismissal on Tuesday.

Monday’s game should present an opportunity to get the offense going. The Bills’ defense has struggled the past two weeks against better competition (Baltimore and Houston) and has been hit hard by injuries. After starting the season with three consecutive wins, Buffalo has lost back-to-back games.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen is also looking for a bounce-back game after his worst performance of the season during Sunday’s loss to the Texans. While Allen has dramatically cut down on turnovers this year, entering Sunday’s game with zero interceptions, the Jets have caused him some headaches in the past.

Under head coach Sean McDermott, the Bills are 15-12-1 against the spread as road favorites — the ninth-best mark in the league during that stretch.
