‘But that’s false’: Jalin Hyatt Denies Trade Rumors Amidst Playing Time Concerns | NFL News – Times of India

The New York Giants’ third-round pick from the 2023 NFL Draft, wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, has vehemently denied recent reports suggesting he requested a trade due to a perceived lack of playing time. These reports, coming from ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, claimed that Hyatt expressed his desire to be traded during a training camp practice if the Giants were unwilling to utilize him more.

Jalin Hyatt Shuts Down Trade Rumors

New York Giants’ wide receiver Jalin Hyatt has recently dismissed claims that he desires a trade due to a lack of playing time.On Friday, he addressed the media, labeling the report as a “fake story.” He firmly stated, “I didn’t say that. I don’t know where that came from, but that’s false.” Hyatt added that he has great respect for Giants’ management, particularly for the efforts made to trade up for him in the draft. He went on to suggest that someone might be trying to tarnish his reputation by spreading false information.

The Giants’ head coach, Brian Daboll, also weighed in on the matter. Daboll denied that Hyatt had ever expressed dissatisfaction with his role, saying, “Jalin never told me that.” He also highlighted his close relationship with the young receiver, further dismissing the rumors. Daboll clarified that Hyatt’s demotion on the depth chart was not a reflection of his performance, but rather the strong showing of Darius Slayton, a more seasoned receiver.
Hyatt’s role in the team’s offensive scheme has indeed diminished. Initially positioned as the No. 2 receiver during summer practices, he has since fallen behind Slayton and has seen limited action. In fact, Hyatt has been targeted only once in the Giants’ first two games of the 2024 season and has yet to secure his first NFL touchdown. Despite this, Daboll emphasized that Hyatt remains an integral part of the team and will be given opportunities when the moment arises.
As the Giants prepare to face the Cleveland Browns, Hyatt remains fourth in the receiver pecking order. With most of the team’s passing plays directed towards Malik Nabers, the No. 6 overall pick, Hyatt will be looking for a chance to prove himself on the field. While the Giants are still searching for their first win this season, Hyatt’s future role will likely depend on his readiness when his number is called.
