Celebrating the annual Travers Day at Saratoga Race Course

Travers Day is upon us.

As thousands of horse racing fans make their way into the Saratoga Race Course, our Jackson Wang is among the crowd as settle in for the biggest racing day of the summer meet at the Spa.

There’s plenty to look forward to, especially race number 13 of the 14 card slate this afternoon. That is the $1.25 million dollar Travers Stakes.  

Just one triple crown leg winning horse is running this year, Dornoch, who won the Belmont Stakes here just a few months ago.

But there are still a lot of really talented three years old running.

That includes the top 3 year old filly in the country in Thorpedo Anna, running with the boy this afternoon. She is looking to become the first filly since 1915 to win the Travers Stakes. 

“One thing the fans out there for, for all those that pull for the girls to beat the boys or the girl to beat the boys, show up here on August 24th to wear pink. love to see pink everywhere pulling for, you know, and and to pull off that historic race like that,” Kenny McPeek, trainer, Thorpedo Anna, said.

So if you see pink today, you’ll know who they are rooting for. 

Now the eight horse field also featuring Sierra Leone who finished second in the Kentucky Derby and third in the Belmont Stakes.

As well as Fierceness, who won the Jim Dandy last month.
