CFDA Partners With Rockefeller Center to Stream New York Fashion Week Shows

Want a place to hang out during New York Fashion Week and screen fashion shows?

The Council of Fashion Designers of America has revealed a streaming partnership with Rockefeller Center to bring the American collections that show at this September’s NYFW to a public screen for consumer audiences for the first time.

A mixture of livestreams and recorded runway shows will be screened Sept. 6 through 11 exclusively at Rockefeller Center, with the viewing screen prominently located at The Rink. The partnership makes Rockefeller Center the only centralized hub — physical or digital — where the public will be able to view NYFW shows. All screenings will be free and open to the public.

New York designers such as Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger, Carolina Herrera, Coach, Khaite, Bach Mai, Proenza Schouler, Luar, Willy Chavarria and Ulla Johnson are among the runway shows confirmed to stream throughout the six-day event. Supplemental programming includes recent fashion shows from Thom Browne, Rick Owens, Todd Snyder, KidSuper and Amiri.

To mark the start of NYFW, a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Sept. 6 around 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., before the first show on the Official NYFW Schedule. (Area kicks off NYFW at 1 p.m.) In attendance will be CFDA chairman Thom Browne, Anna Wintour and Steven Kolb, among others.

“New York Fashion Week is a cultural cornerstone of the city and should be celebrated by all. As the official organizer of NYFW, CFDA is thrilled to be working with Rockefeller Center to stream the fashion shows to the pubic, giving New Yorkers and visitors a front-row seat to the creativity and innovation of American fashion,” said Kolb, CFDA chief executive officer.

“New York Fashion Week and Rockefeller Center are two quintessential New York experiences, so this partnership with CFDA is a natural fit,” said EB Kelly, senior managing director, Tishman Speyer and head of Rockefeller Center. “We are so excited to be the only location where people can view a comprehensive showcase of the incredible work from the world’s most creative designers. We welcome people from near and far to our campus for NYFW watch parties on The Rink and at our restaurants this September, and we are thrilled to be the global epicenter of New York Fashion Week.”

NYFW generates millions of dollars in direct visitor spending, driving growth in tourism, retail, workforce employment and revenue.
