The New York Giants didn’t capitalize on a great chance Thursday night to beat the Dallas Cowboys following a miserable 1-3 start. The group had a pretty good quarterback in Daniel Jones but a running game that was just awful, mustering only 26 yards on 24 carries. They relied on five field goals by Greg Joseph to score points. That was frustrating enough, considering only ten days before that, they kicked six field goals without scoring a touchdown in a loss to the Washington Commanders.

Doubts about the Future

Expectations around the Giants this year were pretty low, and they aren’t doing much building of hope among fans.Jones still hasn’t proven himself to be the long-term solution at quarterback, and each loss brings Brian Daboll‘s chair a little closer to being heated up. His record now stands at 16-21 with the Giants and calls for a coaching change are getting louder.

ESPN’s Bold Prediction

Sports ESPN’s Chris Canty boldly claims that the time of Daboll in New York is over – Brian Daboll is done. He’s the biggest loser coming out of last night, said Canty adding Daniel Jones might have a better chance returning next year than Daboll. He said,
“[Brian Daboll] is toast. He’s done. He’s the biggest loser coming out of last night. … Daniel Jones has a better chance of being back next year than Brian Daboll does.”
On his other ESPN show, Canty also added, “If I had to choose, one guy stays and one guy goes, it is clear and obvious to me that Daboll goes and Jones stays. I am not all the way out on Daniel Jones. But 1-3, from what I’ve seen from the Giants, I am pretty much there with Brian Daboll.”

A Long Season Ahead

As much trouble as Daboll faces in front of him, the truth of the matter is he’s hardly the only issue on this team. The two things that are glaringly bad: the offensive line, and an apparently woeful lack of playmakers.
