Chris Russo blasts ‘clown’ Jose Siri for slow home run trot versus Yankees

The “Mad Dog” has a bone to pick with Rays outfielder Jose Siri.

Chris Russo had a bonus Tuesday appearance on ESPN’s “First Take” this week, and had a rant teed up for Siri, who homered off Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodon in the top of the fifth inning on Monday and took an eternity to trot around the bases.

“They’re losing the game! Look how long it takes him to walk around the bases. I mean this is absolutely ridiculous!” Russo barked.

Chris Russo crushed Rays outfielder Jose Siri for taking an eternity to round the bases after hitting a home run against the Yankees on Monday. ESPN

“He’s not Willie Mays! He’s not Henry Aaron! This is mind-boggling! He takes forever, and they’re losing 5-0 at the time for crying out loud!”

Russo referenced how Yankees stars Aaron Judge and Juan Soto took exception to Siri’s hot-dogging.

“Judge didn’t like it, Soto didn’t like it, and of course over the weekend he hit a couple of home runs,” Russo said, and directed the ESPN audience to Siri’s quotes about the Yankee Stadium crowd.

“They boo a lot here,” Siri said. “They even boo their own team. I don’t think that’s a good thing.”

Russo compared and contrasted the passions of the respective fan bases.

“Hey, Jose! You draw 5,000 a game in that dump at the Tropicana!” Russo continued.

“[For] playoff games you’ve got tarps on the upper deck in that stadium when you’re playing Texas. You of all people should not be mocking the Yankee fan who shows up at that ballpark day in and day out at 47,000 fans.

“And it ain’t cheap to go to the ballgame! Do you have any idea how much it costs even to park the car? And he’s ripping the Yankees fan for booing the Yankee player who hasn’t played that well? Who loafs and doesn’t do anything? And you take three hours to run around the bases? Oh my God, what a clown!”
