Dak Prescott record vs. Giants: Inside Cowboys star’s dominant winning streak against New York | Sporting News Australia

Dak Prescott has the Giants’ number.

When the Cowboys drafted their franchise quarterback in 2016, they didn’t know they guaranteed nearly a decade of dominance over their division rivals. Over the course of his career with Dallas so far, Prescott has more wins over New York than any other team he’s played.

Both teams meet for the first time this season on Thursday night, each entering the matchup with a 1-2 record. Coming off two straight losses, the Cowboys need a big win to get their season back on track, and the Giants are looking for their second consecutive victory.

The 31-year-old’s efforts in his 15th time facing New York also have major implications for Dallas coach Mike McCarthy, who is working on an expiring contract. He is certainly on the hot seat, having won only a single playoff game since taking over the team in 2020 despite winning the NFC East twice.

Thankfully for McCarthy, history is on his side. Here’s everything to know about Prescott’s record versus the Giants, explaining the Cowboys’ dominant winning streak.

Dak Prescott record vs. Giants

In his 14 meetings with New York, Prescott is 12-2. Notably, both losses came in his rookie season when the Cowboys went 13-3 and won the division. At the time, Eli Manning was still under center for the Giants and led the team to the playoffs as well. Funnily enough, both teams’ seasons ended with a loss to Green Bay—New York fell in the wild-card round and Dallas during the divisional.

The quarterback has an overall winning record over NFC East opponents. His second-most beaten team is the Commanders, which he’s gone 11-2 against during his nine-year career. Prescott has had the most trouble vs. the Eagles as far as divisional rivals, but a 9-4 record against the team is still a success.

Prescott has yet to face the Giants in the playoffs, something that hasn’t happened since January 2008. Manning was in his fourth campaign with New York that year and took down Tony Romo’s Cowboys 21-17 on the way to winning his first of two Super Bowls with the team.

Dak Prescott stats vs. Giants

The Cowboys are 6-1 against the Giants in their last seven meetings. Prescott was out for the 23-19 loss at the end of the 2020 campaign after suffering an ankle injury that ended his season early. He sustained a compound fracture against none other than New York in Week 5, but he did enough to win narrowly, 37-34, before exiting.

Prescott’s 3,694 passing yards vs. the Giants are the most he’s thrown against any other NFL team, and he only has 27 passing touchdowns against one other franchise (Washington).

He’s thrown four touchdowns three times against New York in his career, passing for over 400 yards in two of those matchups. Prescott’s most recent contest with four passing scores and over 400 yards thrown against the Giants came in November 2023 during a 49-17 thumping in Dallas.
