Daniel Jones finds Malik Nabers, Jalin Hyatt deep & other top plays from Sunday’s practice
*With the offense facing a 4th and short inside the red zone, Jones was able to scramble away from pressure before finding Nabers over the middle for a first down.
*Rookie TE Theo Johnson, the team’s fourth round pick, practiced for the first time this summer and immediately got into the action. On his first play during team drills, Johnson caught a pass from Drew Lock over the middle for a first down.
*In the final period, Lock found wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie deep over the middle for a solid gain. A few plays later, Lock connected with tight end Tyree Jackson for another big gain to bring the ball to the five-yard line.
*Running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. had a couple of nice plays Sunday, including a run early on in which he slipped through a couple of defenders, putting his elusiveness on full display. Later in practice, Tracy caught a screen pass from Tommy DeVito which he turned upfield for a first down.
*Tight end Lawrence Cager and wide receiver Darius Slayton each caught a pass for a first down from Jones, while wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins snagged a first down pass from Lock.
*On the defensive side of the ball, third-round pick Dru Phillips read a play perfectly and was able to jump the route, breaking up a quick screen pass.
*Veteran cornerbacks Darnay Holmes and Tre Herndon each picked up a pass defensed, as well.
*Near the end of practice, linebacker Darrian Beavers got into the backfield for what likely would have been a sack.
*With the ball set on the five-yard line, outside linebacker Brian Burns did a great job of cutting off the edge on a run play. Defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches was then able to stop the runner behind the line of scrimmage for a loss of a few yards.
