Daniel Jones’ latest woeful performance for the New York Giants has fans calling for him to be cut from the roster entirely.
Brian Daboll once again persevered with Jones as his starting quarterback for the team’s game against the struggling Panthers in Germany, but they were 10-0 down at halftime after a dreadful display.
The worst moment of the half for Jones and the Giants came when he threw a pick in the latter stages, pinging the ball off the helmet of linebacker Jadeveon Clowney and then failing to tackle the opponent who grabbed the ball in the aftermath.
Taking to X, fans caused Jones’ name to trend such was the volume of messages about the struggling quarterback, with one writing: ‘He should be cut at halftime for this.’
Another added: ‘Daniel Jones is breathtakingly bad,’ while one said: ‘That flea flicker play is reason enough to permanently ban Daniel Jones from ever playing another down in the NFL.’
Daniel Jones was sacked and threw an awful interception in the first half against the Panthers
Some fans claimed he should be cut from the roster at halftime after his poor performance
At this point, even Giants reporters are beginning to turn on the 27-year-old, with SNY’s Connor Hughes tweeting: ‘The only reason to keep playing Daniel Jones is to use him as a human shield to hide other issues with #Giants.’
In the first half in Munich, Jones went 6-14, throwing for 54 yards and an interception, as well as being sacked.
The Giants were 2-7 heading into the game against the team generally regarded as one of the worst in this season’s NFL, and Daboll’s seat appears to be getting hotter with each passing week.
The Giants’ New York rivals the Jets fired their head coach Robert Saleh in the immediate aftermath of an NFL International Game last month.
